Review of MCC Toronto Laser Hair Removal Clinic Toronto Ontario

Imagine never needing to shave, wax or go through long sessions of electrolysis again – this dream can become reality at MCC Toronto Laser Hair Removal Clinic for men and women of all skin types!

MCC Cosmetic is one of the premier laser hair removal and beauty clinics in Toronto, offering botox, dermal fillers, Juvederm CoolSculpting Body Contouring Laser Treatments as well as laser services to clients.

What to Expect

Laser light penetrates melanin pigment present in hair follicles and converts it to heat energy that destroys their roots. Unfortunately, melanin found on darker skin tones can also absorb this light and divert it away from targeting only hair; potentially leading to discomfort, blistering, scarring or skin discoloration of surrounding tissues. To avoid this from occurring during treatment we employ a cooling system. Furthermore we suggest shaving prior to your appointment in order to target only hair and not surrounding tissue.

At each treatment session, a medical aesthetician will cleanse the area before using a handheld laser device to release pulses of laser light into each individual hair follicle. Overall, the experience should be relatively painless; you may feel snap-back-like sensations from time to time similar to being snapped by a rubber band but these should be manageable using our topical anesthetic solution.

After your treatment, there may be redness and swelling on your skin; this will quickly fade. Aftercare instructions will be provided and our medical aesthetician will be on-call to answer any queries that arise.

Since each hair follicle has its own growth cycle, we cannot eliminate all hair in one treatment session; thus requiring multiple sessions before seeing results. Our goal is to decrease the number of active growth phase follicles on your skin which will in turn decrease hair regrowth.

As well as offering laser hair removal services in Toronto Ontario, we also specialize in anti-ageing treatments and body contouring procedures like Coolsculpting. Contact us to book a consultation session and discover more of what we can do for you!

Electrolysis is an older and slower method for permanent hair reduction that remains popular with some clients. Electrolysis involves inserting an electric needle into each individual hair follicle to send an electrical shock through its tip and destroy it; this solution may be particularly suitable for clients who cannot tolerate laser or IPL treatments due to sensitive skin or having blonde, red, or gray hair that does not respond well to laser and IPL methods.

Treatment Time

Laser hair removal is an efficient, safe way of permanent hair reduction. A laser emits light that attracts to pigment (melanin) found in hair follicles and converts it to heat energy that damages them, thus stopping their ability to grow new hair. A series of sessions may be needed in order for maximum effectiveness.

During treatment, your skin is cleansed and covered in a protective gel to protect it from the laser’s heat. Once activated, an automatic cooling system helps ease any discomfort while topical anesthetic may also be provided if necessary. Furthermore, protective eyewear will be worn throughout.

Treatment times will depend on the size and location of the area being treated; treating an entire back usually takes 8 minutes to treat. A minimum of six sessions are typically necessary to achieve desired results; more sessions may be needed depending on hair color and skin tone.

Hair growth occurs in three phases from follicles in your dermis of skin. The anagen phase is when most hair follicles are active; at this point they contain melanin richer than ever, making them most responsive to laser treatment. Not all follicles will enter anagen simultaneously so multiple laser hair removal treatments may be required in order to reach all your hairs at once.

Catagen and telogen phases occur when hair follicles gradually reduce their size and stop producing new hair, but remain susceptible to laser treatment due to reduced melanin concentration in their cells. For this reason, it is vital that you stick with your treatment plan so all hair follicles can be targeted and eventually destroyed over time.

Laser treatment for hair removal is the most reliable and long-term way to permanently get rid of unwanted hair. Unlike IPL treatments that may damage skin, lasers are completely safe for all types of skin tones – provided your physician has received adequate training in using this technology for treating patients of various skin tones. Toronto Dermatology Centre offers laser services tailored specifically for both men and women of various skin tones and types.

Cost

Laser hair removal is an efficient and cost-effective method of eliminating unwanted body or facial hair, safe for all skin types and colors. Unfortunately, not all areas can be treated; darkened follicles must be darker than surrounding skin tone in order for this treatment to work; eyebrows cannot be treated due to being too close to eyes; similarly tattooed or grey hair are untreatable with laser.

Safety

Laser hair removal has quickly become one of the most sought-after noninvasive solutions to unwanted hair growth, yet it remains vital that patients understand all safety measures taken by the clinic where they go for this procedure – these can include patch testing, proper skin preparation and post-treatment care instructions so you can rest easy knowing that your treatment will be safe and effective.

Prior to laser treatments, aestheticians conduct a patch test on your skin in order to make sure there will be no negative impact. Once clean, they glide the laser over it with pulses of energy which absorb melanin pigment in hair roots and destroy them; an automatic cooling system keeps surface skin from burning off during this procedure and you should experience minimal pain throughout.

Before beginning treatment, it’s a good idea to shave the area where it will be applied, as this allows the laser to easily pinpoint hair follicles without accidentally burning your skin surface. You may wish to apply a topical numbing cream if your treatment area is particularly sensitive such as bikini line or underarms; in addition, any skincare products containing hydroquinone, retinol or salicylic acid as these may make the procedure more sensitive for you.

Patch tests can also serve as an invaluable way to ascertain whether your skin is sensitive to laser light. If this is the case for you, laser hair removal might not deliver on its promise; in such a situation, other forms of removal such as waxing, shaving or electrolysis might work better for removing unwanted hairs.

According to one dermatologist who treats two clients per week for injuries from laser hair removal, she finds it frustrating that the government does not mandate minimum training standards for people using lasers in beauty industries. She reports being bombarded by complaints from clients who have experienced scarring, burns and discolourations due to inadequately trained practitioners.
