Physicians and their trained physician assistants can perform laser and IPL treatments, while estheticians, licensed vocational nurses, cosmetologists and electrologists must obtain approval from a physician prior to performing these procedures themselves.
Course Overview
laser hair removal differs from shaving and waxing by permanently disabling hair follicles to stop them from growing back, taking six to fourteen sessions for full results. Each session targets one phase of growth – Anagen, Catagen or Telogen – thus targeting its root to stop further hair from growing back permanently. Our course trains estheticians, nurses, physicians spa owners in how to use aesthetic lasers.
This course is a hybrid certification program which combines theory, practice and science in equal measures. Students receive extensive course materials as well as hands on training from experienced laser technicians in order to become effective laser technicians themselves.
California has very strict rules about who may perform laser/light activated device procedures at medical esthetic practices, making these regulations much harder for spa owners and estheticians to understand than many would like them to be. You should contact your state’s licensing department to gain more insight into its specific regulations in your area.
Colorado follows a similar rule, mandating that non-physician personnel performing laser/light activated device services may only do so under the direct supervision of a physician, who need not necessarily reside at the clinic but must reside within its community where services are rendered. Furthermore, both doctor and person supervising must possess licenses from relevant states in which they work; additionally they both must also hold applicable medical credentials.

After your treatment, your skin may appear and feel similar to it has been sunburnt for the first few days post-procedure. Moisturizers and cool compresses may help, while our Aesthetic Nurses may provide anti-inflammatory creams to ease any discomfort you might be feeling.
