How to Stimulate Shedding After Laser Hair Removal

After laser hair removal, your skin will likely feel tender and sensitive. While reddening may occur and seem sunburned-like, applying an aloe vera gel may help relieve discomfort.

Tweezing, waxing, picking or plucking the hairs that haven’t fallen yet should be avoided as this can disrupt their natural cycle and result in ingrown hairs. Allow them to shed naturally over a 7-30 day period.

1. Exfoliate

At each step in the hair removal process, your hair follicles are damaged and enter an inactive or resting phase lasting two to three weeks, during which your hair may feel coarse, thick or tangled. To help speed the shedding process after laser treatment and speed the process along faster by exfoliating regularly after laser therapy treatment; just be careful not to overexfoliate as over-doing it may lead to irritation and infection from ingrown hairs or manually pulling at dead hairs yourself can result in infection or ingrowns!

To effectively exfoliate, utilize a non-abrasive scrub or washcloth in a circular motion with a gentle exfoliating cleanser. Avoid harsh, gritty scrubs or salts as these will irritate your skin. Exfoliating at least three times weekly with an exfoliating scrub can stimulate hair follicles to unclog as they shed unwanted hairs, helping them produce fresh new growth.

Avoid products containing fragrances or dyes as these can dry out your skin and slow hair shed down over time. Instead, opt for natural ingredients like glycerin, ceramides and hyaluronic acid in cleanser to aid post-laser hair removal care.

Staying hydrated will also help stimulate hair follicles and hasten their shedding process, so aim to drink 6-8 glasses of water daily. A gentle moisturizer can soften skin while opening pores; try formulas containing glycerin, jojoba oil or hyaluronic acid as these may provide added benefit.

Use a mild chemical peel to exfoliate your skin safely. Just be wary not to over-exfoliate, which could irritate and inflame it further.

After several sessions, you will notice that your hair has begun to fall out, which is a great sign that the procedure is working! Some individuals may also experience pepper spots; these will eventually vanish on their own.

Be patient! Remember that laser hair removal sessions may take multiple sessions before you see results! Over time, you will witness outstanding results!

2. Massage

Laser hair removal uses a light beam that absorbs pigment from each individual follicle, and destroys its roots to stop future growth. Following treatment, hairs typically shed naturally over time (this may take as little as five days but some individuals experience longer). It’s important to support this natural process without creating irritation on either your skin or hairs; any attempts at speeding it up too aggressively could damage sensitive tissues, leading to pain and inflammation – proper at-home care and patience will result in smooth hairless skin!

Once laser hair removal, to help accelerate the shedding process by exfoliating several times each week for at least a couple weeks using gentle scrubs or chemical exfoliants such as glycolic acid toner or lotion, and cool compresses (ice packs in clean washcloth) on treatment areas to ease discomfort and swelling. Avoid hot showers, baths and saunas which can cause reddening and blistering on skin surface; take anti-inflammatory pain relievers only with doctor approval (Tylenol or anti-inflation).

Before initiating laser hair removal treatment, it is vitally important not to pluck, wax, or shave the treated area during this phase as doing so can disrupt hair follicles and delay results. Wait until redness, itching and swelling have subsided before initiating further treatments such as shaving.

If you are prone to ingrown hairs, one way to help prevent them is by applying aloe vera ointment several times daily or applying topical retinoid cream if approved by your physician.

At this stage, it is wise to forgo any alternative hair-removal methods, including dyes and bleaching creams, blood-thinning medications, sun exposure and tanning beds as these may all interfere with results. Sun exposure can trigger hair follicles to produce additional unwanted hairs; thus it is wise to wear sunscreen with at least 30 SPF protection.

3. Moisturize

Accelerate laser hair removal results by exfoliating the treatment area several times each week with gentle exfoliation. You can do this using a washcloth and scrub wash, or even using a loofah sponge in the shower – just be careful not to irritate your skin too much while exfoliating. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells that trap hairs on the surface while applying pressure onto stubborn remaining hairs that need some convincing before falling away naturally.

Use fragrance-free lotion to moisturize the treated area several times daily, which will both control inflammation and provide nourishment to the skin. Avoid products with lots of fragrances as these may irritate skin further; therefore, a fragrance free lotion would be the best choice.

If your skin becomes reddend or inflamed following laser hair removal, do not scratch or pick at it; this could cause infection. Instead, cool aloe vera gel or lotion should help soothe it; alternatively a cold compress wrapped with cloth or paper towel can provide additional comfort.

Before scheduling a laser hair removal appointment, it is crucial that the treatment area does not receive a shave or wax, as this could interfere with its effectiveness and lower its success. Moisturizing may help ease discomfort during your session but should only be applied at least one or two days prior. Also avoid any lotions or creams on the day of the laser appointment itself.

4. Deodorize

Laser hair removal is one of the safest and most efficient ways to address unwanted hair, yet it does pose certain risks and side effects that must be managed carefully if patients follow instructions provided by their certified technician. Here are a few tips that will ensure you make the most of your laser hair removal treatment:

Before your laser hair removal appointment, avoid any form of hair removal – this includes plucking, waxing or sugaring kits as these methods will damage your skin and inhibit its ability to target hair follicles effectively. Instead, trim or shave carefully while taking precautions not to irritate hair follicles further. Likewise, avoid chemical creams or lotions on the area – these could further irritate it and compromise laser’s ability and effectiveness.

Avoid sun exposure, and apply sunscreen whenever going outdoors to protect the area from burning, scarring or other forms of damage to the skin. Furthermore, natural or self-tanning solutions could interfere with laser’s ability to target melanin in your hair follicles.

Gentle cleansing products can help to promote skin health. Opt for one that’s fragrance and dye free; this will loosen dead hairs while unclogging pores to enable easier hair shed.

Hot showers, gym membership and sauna use can irritate sensitive skin after laser hair removal treatment, along with body scrubs or exfoliating treatments, perfumed lotions or creams and fragranced lotions that contain fragrance. Doing these things could cause redness or bumps to form on your skin which could recur after laser hair removal treatment is complete.

Avoid deodorants that clog the pores and inhibit hair growth; however, if necessary use only mild and unscented deodorant products without fragrances or dyes.
