Laser Hair Reduction Small Area Premier Dermatology Review

Unwanted hair is a persistent problem for both men and women. Shaving, waxing, and depilatory creams offer temporary solutions that often result in razor burn and skin irritation.

Premier Dermatology provides laser hair reduction treatments using BLEND X technology tailored specifically for each client’s individual needs.

What Is It?

Unwanted hair growth is a problem faced by many. Not only can it be unsightly and cause razor bumps or ingrown hairs to appear on the skin surface, it may also contribute to reddening. Traditional methods for removal such as shaving, waxing and depilatory creams can be time consuming, expensive and painful – not an ideal option when trying to address unwanted hair growth issues.

Laser hair reduction is an aesthetic solution designed to permanently decrease the number of active hair follicles and thus eliminate shaving and waxing – saving patients both time and money over time.

Laser energy absorbs melanin found in hair follicles to disable them from producing more hair follicles, making this treatment particularly successful on those with darker hair because the contrast between their dark-skinned scalps and lighter locks helps the laser easily identify and target individual follicles for treatment.

Laser hair reduction may not be a permanent procedure, but most people who undergo multiple treatments consider it permanent. Each session leads to an increasingly significant decrease in hair follicle growth which eventually causes dormantness of those follicles, eventually leaving most people without unwanted hair to grow back – when new growth does appear it typically has finer and lighter locks than before.

At Premier Dermatology, we utilize cutting-edge laser hair removal technology. We offer our clients the industry’s first Nd:YAG and Alexandrite laser system equipped with BLEND X technology, offering unparalleled power, speed, and versatility to precisely target unwanted hair while meeting each client’s unique needs and providing effective treatment plans that minimize discomfort. In addition, this system features an inbuilt cooling device which protects their skin during treatment as well as built-in cooling technology to minimize discomfort levels during treatments.

What Are the Benefits?

Laser hair removal can permanently reduce the number of active growth hairs on both your face and body, from eyebrows to bikini lines. It is safe to use and completely pain-free – making laser treatment ideal for both face and body hair removal needs.

Process is very quick and straightforward; full body treatment typically takes less than one hour while smaller areas may take even less time. Treatment will likely involve multiple treatment sessions depending on area being addressed as well as hair type of patients being treated.

Laser treatments require that hair remain in its follicle in order to reach and disable it effectively, which is why we suggest shaving the area prior to your appointment and advise against further waxing or plucking in that area for at least a week before any treatment takes place.

Premier’s revolutionary SPTL technology enables them to tailor treatments based on your skin tone and hair colour, making for personalized treatments for people of any color or skin tone. Prior to SPTL technology being available, darkly pigmented skin was not treatable with lasers because light energy would absorb into melanin in hair shafts, potentially causing burns in surrounding tissue. Now thanks to advancements in laser technologies this problem has been resolved; even those with darker skin tones can benefit from the procedure.

The process is very gentle, although you may experience redness or irritation for several hours or days after treatment, which may be worsened by exposure to sunlight or picking at the area (which could lead to blistering and scarring if picked at). A moisturizer will soothe skin irritations while helping prevent blistering and scarring; after 2-3 weeks after your first treatment your hairs should start falling out easily using an electric razor or cream.

How Does It Work?

Unwanted body hair can be effectively eliminated with laser treatments on nearly any part of the body. They provide an efficient alternative to shaving, plucking, waxing and harsh chemical depilatories.

Laser treatment for melanin in hair involves sending out bursts of light that absorb pigment from hair follicles, effectively disabling them and stopping further hair growth. Sessions should take place every four to six weeks for maximum benefit; as more follicles become disabled by laser, production will stop altogether resulting in silky smooth skin that lasts long-term.

To achieve optimal results, it is vital that you visit a board-certified dermatologist with extensive laser treatment experience and adhere to all pre and post treatment instructions as this can significantly decrease any chance of adverse side effects.

Prior to your laser hair removal session, avoid shaving or using depilatory cream on the area you intend to treat. It is also wise to utilize sunscreen with an SPF 30 rating or higher and limit sun exposure as much as possible.

Before beginning treatment, a topical numbing agent will be applied to your skin in order to minimize discomfort during this procedure. Treatment itself usually only lasts a few minutes and should be painless for most people.

Clear + Brilliant is a safe laser treatment designed to rejuvenate facial skin, reduce pore size, and diminish wrinkles, fine lines, and acne scars. Ideal for men and women in their late twenties or early thirties who wish to prevent skin aging, Clear+ Brilliant may also help reverse signs of aging in more mature skin.

How Long Does It Take?

Laser hair reduction sessions typically last anywhere from a few minutes to an hour, depending on the area being treated. The procedure is relatively painless and offers an alternative to shaving, waxing and plucking.

At your first treatment session, you’ll sit or lie on a treatment table while a practitioner presses a handheld device against your skin to deliver pulses of energy that target hair follicles and disrupt them. While you may feel an elastic band snapping against you skin during treatment, it won’t actually be painful as your provider may apply topical numbing cream prior to beginning their laser session.

Befor every laser hair removal session, it is imperative that the treatment area be clean and shaved. Tweezing, plucking and waxing the area only impede the laser’s ability to damage hair follicles effectively.

Following laser treatment, the area affected may become red and swollen, so it is crucial that direct sunlight be avoided for at least 48 hours post-procedure and sunscreen with at least an SPF 30 applied when going outdoors. Tanning beds should also be avoided as these can discolor skin.

After your laser treatments, you should notice that hair in the affected area is gradually thinning and falling out, with some finer and lighter-colored growth returning over time. Most people report 90 percent permanent hair reduction from laser treatments; however, hormonal fluctuations may reactivate some follicles so it is advisable to schedule maintenance treatments every six to 12 months following initial series.

What Are the Side Effects?

Unwanted hair growth is a persistent and frustrating issue for both men and women, but traditional solutions such as shaving, waxing, and harsh chemical depilatories only temporarily diminish this unwanted growth. Laser hair removal offers a quick and effective solution that’s safe for nearly everyone; during our initial consultation we review your medical history as well as examine the area you wish to treat to determine if laser hair reduction would be successful for you.

Redness and bumps may occur following laser hair removal sessions; these effects typically dissipate shortly afterwards. Your technician may apply topical anesthetic or cooling gel for added comfort during treatment. People with darker skin tones must be wary of potential changes to their pigmentation, such as hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation, caused by laser light absorbing more efficiently through darker hair than lighter follicles. To minimise risk, sun protection before and after laser treatments as well as using bleaching cream with hydroquinone and/or kojic acid should be used at least three to four weeks prior to attending their appointment are all effective preventive strategies to guard against such potential issues.

Laser hair removal is generally considered safe and effective when carried out at a physician’s office as opposed to spas or nail salons, contrary to popular misconceptions. No evidence has ever emerged showing that its laser light causes permanent scarring or damages any other tissues in the area where treatment takes place.
