TDLR no longer requires hair salons, nail and esthetician salons, barbershops, barber shops, barber shops, barber schools, cosmetology schools, massage establishments or laser hair establishments to comply with social distancing or mask requirements; however they should still comply with the Governor’s health guidelines.
Laser hair removal offers an alternative solution that is permanent and relatively painless to waxing, shaving or plucking for unwanted hair removal.
What to Expect
TDLR does not require laser hair removal establishments or providers to require customers wearing masks; however, all registrants and their employees to comply with DSHS health guidelines for customer service.
As part of our effort to ensure Texas customers continue receiving quality care from licensed professionals, all TDLR-regulated barber shops, cosmetology salons (including nail and esthetician salons ), massage establishments should remain open as long as they comply with Governor’s Executive Order GA-18 and the following DSHS health guidelines (PDF). Preparation
Laser hair removal offers a safe and permanent solution to unwanted hair growth. Laser and light-based devices can effectively treat most skin types, even darker complexions that cannot be addressed through waxing or electrolysis treatments. Laser removal of unwanted hair from legs, arms, face, underarms, chin, bikini areas can permanently eliminate them all.
Through an executive order from Governor Snyder, TDLR no longer enforces COVID-19 related restrictions on businesses offering barber and cosmetology salons, nail or esthetician salons, lash salons, massage establishments and laser hair establishments from requiring employees or customers to wear masks; however, these businesses should still strongly encourage customers to adhere to DSHS health guidelines.
Treatment
Laser hair removal is an innovative, safe, and relatively painless alternative to shaving, waxing, tweezing and the use of hair-removal creams. It works by targeting the color pigment of hair follicles using light beams which destroy it; so that hair no longer grows into those follicles – which is what our expert technicians will use with the cutting-edge Cutera Excel HR system to effectively rid themselves of their unwanted body hair in all locations including faces, legs, arms, backs – as well as underarms.
Electrolysis and plucking require the removal of each individual hair by hand; while laser destruction destroys multiple hair follicles simultaneously. This significantly decreases hair growth over time. Our team will devise a tailored treatment plan tailored specifically to you that includes how many sessions will be necessary for optimal results.
Before receiving laser treatment, your hair must be trimmed to approximately one millimeter in length and the area should be completely free from oils or any other substances such as self-tanners or sun exposure.
Our advanced laser technology utilizes the power of both YAG and Alexandrite lasers to effectively treat unwanted hair. Both laser wavelengths target pigment in your follicles to destroy them, effectively stopping future hair growth in those follicles.
This technology is tailored for most Fitzpatrick skin types and can be applied on various areas of the body. However, we will evaluate your individual situation and discuss any pre-treatment recommendations before initiating this procedure.
Following Governor Rick Perry’s executive order, nothing prevents hair, esthetician and nail salons, lash salons, barber shops, cosmetology schools or laser hair establishments from requiring employees or customers to follow additional hygiene measures, including wearing masks. We strongly urge Texans to continue making every effort possible in good faith to adhere to DSHS health recommendations.
Registering with the Texas Dermatological Laser Registry (TDLR) is required of establishments providing Laser Hair Removal, laser and light-based treatments, or certain cosmetic procedures. You can find information regarding rules, statutes, fees, examination requirements, meetings held under Radiation Control – Laser and Laser Device Services Registration as well as opt-in to their mailing list for updates.
