Shaving, waxing, threading and plucking can be time consuming, painful and expensive activities. Laser hair removal may seem like an investment at first, but it could prove a smart one in the long run.
Start seeing permanent reduction in hair growth today with this NYC Medspa package of six gentle laser hair removal sessions using Cynosure Elite Nd:YAG and Alexandrite laser technology, suitable for treating all skin types and body parts.
What Areas Are Included in the Package?
Laser hair removal offers an alternative to shaving, waxing, threading or plucking for unwanted hair removal. Laser treatments use light energy that is absorbed by pigment in hair which heats the follicle to reduce future growth of new follicles and decrease future hair growth. By using our Soprano Ice Platinum laser we are able to target hairs below the skin surface – this has proven highly successful with many clients!
As part of your treatment, we will cover each area you would like to address with a protective shield and may cause some mild reddening or swelling which will subside within hours. Some individuals can see results after only one session while others require six to eight sessions for full reduction; most clients typically achieve permanent hair reduction after three to seven sessions.
Before receiving treatment, it is essential that you refrain from tanning or sun exposure in the area you will be treating for two weeks prior to scheduling your appointment. Also make sure that two days before, shave any areas you will be treating as well as not use any creams or lotions in that area and inform us if you take blood-thinning medication.
After receiving treatment, you will notice an immediate difference in both thickness and length of your hair, while itching ingrown hairs should become obsolete. Furthermore, your color of hair may lighten!
Laser treatments tend to work best on individuals with dark hair and light skin, due to the contrast between hair color and skin tone making it easier for laser guns to target individual follicles more efficiently. Unfortunately, it does not work well on blonde, gray, white or red locks.
Are you ready to put an end to tweezing, shaving and waxing? Book an appointment for laser hair removal with SKINNEY Medspa in Herald Square – we specialize in affordable body hair reduction for both men and women of all ages at competitive rates. Contact us now to set up an initial consultation!
How Long Does the Treatment Take?
Laser hair removal is an efficient, quick, and painless solution that typically lasts less than an hour depending on the size of the area being treated. Prior to your appointment, it is advised to shave or depilate (using depilatory creams such as Veet and Nair) so as to prevent any hairs above the surface from trapping heat from the laser beam. Once at your appointment, protective eyewear will be provided and pulses of light targeted directly at your follicles; this will not only cause your existing unwanted hairs to decrease but will help prevent future growth as well.
During the procedure, pulses of light will feel similar to rubber bands snapping against your skin – they’re not painful and the laser targets only the pigment of hair rather than surface skin layers, making this method less invasive and uncomfortable than shaving, plucking, waxing or threading.
As your laser treatments target hair follicles, your skin may appear flushed and reddish – this is normal and shows that your hair has responded well to treatment. After your appointment, it is essential to protect your skin by staying out of direct sunlight; additionally, broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30+ should be worn regularly for at least one month following treatment.
Keep in mind that not every hair follicle responds well to laser treatment. People with very light-colored (white or grey) hair follicles do not contain enough melanin to be targeted by laser.
To achieve maximum results from laser hair removal treatments, multiple sessions should be received spaced 4-6 weeks apart for your face and 6-8 weeks apart for your torso and legs. The laser only targets hair follicles during their active growth phase – as more treatments are received, their size will gradually diminish and unwanted hair will gradually reduce over time.
How Much Will the Treatment Cost?
Costs associated with laser hair removal vary based on factors like area size, number of sessions needed for desired results and skill of technician delivering treatment. At Manhattan Aesthetics, we use only medical grade equipment and highly experienced technicians; other spas and salons may try to save money by employing lower grade machinery or inexperienced staff; be wary – doing this could end up costing more in the long run!
Laser treatments differ from other hair removal techniques in that they permanently destroy follicles responsible for producing unwanted hair, thus providing permanent hair reduction over multiple treatments at four- to six-week intervals.
Laser hair removal is an extremely pain-free and noninvasive option, often more comfortable than shaving or waxing – saving time and money spent grooming regularly.
Before beginning any treatment, a skin specialist will first assess if you’re suitable for it and explain how the procedure works and what to expect during your session. They may then apply topical numbing cream or an ice pack in order to minimize discomfort during sessions.
Once our licensed aesthetician applies numbing cream, they use our laser instrument with its beam of light and heat to penetrate through the skin to target pigment that causes hair follicle color, targeting it directly so as to destroy any future growth in that particular area.
Laser hair removal produces an elegantly silky-smooth result that leaves skin soft and smooth. In addition, it eliminates issues related to hair growth such as folliculitis and discoloration – unlike shaving, waxing or plucking that cause painful abrasions that leave skin red and swollen for hours afterward.
Laser hair removal procedures are generally considered cosmetic and aren’t covered by health insurance plans; however, you may be eligible to use money from your flexible spending account for certain procedures.
