Laser hair removal is a treatment which uses heat from laser light to destroy hair follicles and stop future growth. Once destroyed, hair won’t regrow back.
Most individuals will need between six to eight treatments spaced about four weeks apart for optimal results. While new hair growth may occur at times, touch-up appointments will help manage this situation.
Week 1
You have probably heard it said, that laser hair removal results may differ for each person, and while this might sound generalized, it is indeed true that results differ between people.
Laser hair removal works by employing selective photothermolysis to target pigmented areas in hair follicles without harming surrounding skin. As heat from the laser passes through it weakens or destroys it altogether preventing further hair growth.
Target the follicle during its new-growth stage (anagen). However, due to their resting and growth cycles, some hair may grow back even if you successfully eradicated its source.
As such, it is necessary to schedule laser treatments every four weeks until your desired level of hair reduction has been attained. You should also avoid plucking, waxing or shaving the area as this could interfere with new hair growth and it is also wise to apply sunblock with an SPF 30+ protection on any exposed areas when outdoors.
Week 2
Your first laser hair removal treatment should result in reduced hair growth and smoother skin. Some individuals may also experience itching or discomfort similar to razor burn for 24 hours after treatment as the laser targets darker pigments that make up hair follicles that have become damaged by targeting.
To protect yourself and ensure a more effective laser experience, it is vitally important that between sessions you refrain from waxing, tweezing or plucking the area being treated. Sunless skin creams may darken melanin levels in hair follicles and reduce its effectiveness during laser sessions.
At each session, our team will use a handheld device to press against the target area and pulse laser light pulses onto it. You may experience what feels like rubber band snapping against your skin – this could last anywhere from several minutes up to an hour, depending on how big of an area is being treated. Protective goggles should always be worn when receiving laser treatments to safeguard eyesight from potential risks from laser radiation.
Week 3
Laser hair removal is a safe, permanent way to reduce unwanted hair growth. Utilizing selective photothermolysis technology, it targets pigment in your hair follicles while damaging them so they cannot produce more hair, effectively cutting down hair growth by up to 90%.
One week following your treatment, you may notice some of the hair in the treated area shedding. This is perfectly natural; just be careful not to pluck or tweeze these shedding hairs – doing so could interfere with their growth cycle and ruin its momentum.
Your hair growth reduction treatments may require multiple visits to achieve the results you seek, so it is essential that you attend all appointments as scheduled and attend maintenance sessions recommended by your practitioner.
Before scheduling laser hair removal appointments, shave the desired areas to help make it easier for the laser to target hair follicles and make removal simpler. Furthermore, avoid products which darken your complexion such as tanning creams before beginning treatment.
Week 4
Results from laser hair removal can often be seen after just a few sessions; however, for some individuals it can take longer. This is because hair follicles need time to grow between treatments in order to be in an ideal stage when destroyed by the laser beam.
Laser hair removal involves protecting your skin with special gel and eyewear before lying back and relaxing as the laser scans your body to target and destroy hair follicles. As it works, you may feel something similar to rubber band snapping against your skin; this is normal and temporary.
Once hair follicles have been destroyed, they will no longer produce new hair growth – leading to reduced stubble growth and less body hair overall. But keep in mind that even after you complete your full course of treatments, additional top-up sessions may still be required every few years for maintenance of results.
Week 5
For the first few days after treatment, your treated area may appear red and swollen, however this should slowly subside with time if a cold compress or moisturizers are applied as necessary. Be careful when exposed to direct sunlight as prolonged sun exposure can result in phototoxic reactions (redness and blistering).
At least six to eight laser hair removal sessions should be necessary for you to achieve optimal results in hair reduction. After these treatments are complete, your stubble should become much less visible.
As opposed to shaving, waxing, and electrolysis treatments, laser treatments work by permanently damaging hair follicles to inhibit future hair growth, so fewer touch-up treatments will likely be necessary over time depending on your hair and skin type. When finished you should see results that reduce or even completely eliminate hair; eventually it should reach sparseness or fineness with occasional touch up sessions depending on individual hair/skin types; therefore it’s crucial that a knowledgeable practitioner be chosen and that pre and post treatment instructions be strictly observed for best results!
Week 6
This week you may notice more hair fall out due to laser damage to the follicles. Over time this will lead to less thick and dark growth; and lighter and finer locks.
Between laser treatments, it is crucial that you do not wax, shave or pluck your hair as this could reduce their effectiveness and also use at least an SPF 30 broad spectrum sunscreen when outdoors.
Most men and women require between four to six laser hair removal sessions for maximum results, depending on skin tone, hair color and the area being treated. Regular touch up maintenance sessions every 4-6 weeks will help maintain optimal results over time – though no treatment can promise permanent removal as your hormones will eventually activate new follicles.
Week 7
Laser hair removal uses laser light pulses to target and destroy unwanted follicles, effectively stopping future hair growth. As hair follicles cycle with their growth cycles, it may take multiple sessions for you to see lasting results from this treatment. To achieve the best outcomes from your sessions, schedule them at least four to eight weeks apart so the hair follicles have time to expand between treatments so they are in their optimal state of development when damaged by the laser beam.
Before your laser treatments begin, it is also essential that you refrain from waxing, tweezing or plucking hair as this will interfere with their ability to target pigment in hair follicles, leading to less desirable results and reduced efficiency of laser energy penetration. Shaving before each session also facilitates laser energy penetration to reach deeper into hair follicles more easily and penetrate better at their base – once your full course of treatments have been completed you should return for maintenance top-up sessions every 3-6 months depending on your own hair cycle and ensure they continue for maintenance top ups every 3-12 months depending on its individual hair cycle length and its intensity.
Week 8
Laser hair removal is a safe and effective solution to combating unwanted hair growth. The treatment works by targeting pigment in hair follicles to disable them and stop hair production from continuing. Results typically take multiple sessions for optimal effectiveness; many individuals also opt for touch-up treatments periodically.
Treatment typically lasts anywhere from minutes to an hour, depending on the size and scope of the area being addressed. You may experience mild discomfort as the laser passes over your skin – some men and women describe this sensation as feeling like tiny rubber bands snapping against it.
Avoid shaving and waxing treated areas for optimal results. Your hairs will need time to grow back between treatments so the laser can target them at their ideal stages. While this process may take time, it will yield positive outcomes in the end.
Week 9
Laser hair removal is one of the most reliable permanent solutions for eliminating unwanted body hair. But it is important to realize that results won’t appear immediately; most people require multiple sessions at four-week intervals until their desired outcomes have been reached.
Each session, a laser pulses the skin, targeting hair’s roots and heating up any growth that comes up for treatment, ultimately killing off and preventing future regrowth of that particular area of body hair. The number of treatments required depends on where and how fast hair grows therein, but most sessions take no more than 20-30 minutes each session for best results.
After receiving laser treatment, your hair will grow back more infrequently and be finer and lighter in color, providing smoother skin with less noticeable hairs that grow back.
